Work to weekend.

Get smarter with you wardrobe. Here's how...

I don't work out of an overly corporate office (obvs), but even if you do, I think you'll agree there's a lot more room for mixing it up than there used to be. Like, you can actually get away with wearing a man-style suit without getting weird looks (it's called being a boss lady, and I'm all about it).

So rather than shopping for casual weekend stuff, and a separate 'work' wardrobe, think about going for things that work double-time.

I'm talking simple, clean, tailored pieces with a modern edge. They create the best foundation for an amazing wardrobe, but as you probably know, they're not easy to find (unless you're willing to go hungry for a while).

That's why I'm so excited about RAEY. It's a new line of cool, timeless, minimal staples with a tomboy edge. To be honest, it's kind of like they've been spying on my dreams. It's not often I love every.single.piece. in a collection, but this is an exception.

Seriously, I could wear it head-to-toe all day, every day (and I wouldn't even have to go on strike with my daily strong soy latte).

You could throw on a simple strappy heel with this outfit and it's instantly work-appropriate, or pair it with your Stan Smith's on the weekend.

These pants also work with a simple tank (if you want to dress them down), and the top goes with pretty much everything (the asymmetric hem looks incredible with a black blazer over the top, BTW).

It's all about getting more mileage out of your pieces.

Time to clear-out my wardrobe and make way for some more RAEY, I think!

The long story about short hair.

Read this before you go for the chop.

So, about three months ago I chopped my hair off. It was kind of an irrational decision (like most of mine).

I've always had long hair, and I've never known what to do with it (it ended up in a topknot most days).

It's also naturally dark, and I was always restless... wanting to branch out, but not quite sure how to go about it.

Then I started going to Oscar Oscar in Paddington and things changed. Why? I'm indecisive. I like it when someone pushes me to try new things – which is exactly what they did.

That's how my short hair came about. I was in for my normal cut and colour, and I asked my colourist Michael if he could do anything with my hair, what would it be?

He pretty much said, "chop it all off".

Less than a week later I was back in the salon ready to do exactly that, and I'm so happy I did.

First things first, let me point out some myths about short hair.

It's not easier to maintain, and you probably won't wake up with amazingly textured bed hair every morning. You need products – salt spray, texture powder and dry shampoo

But the pro's definitely outweigh the cons. It's cooler. It feels fresh. It means you use way less shampoo & conditioner. It frames your face. It makes your features pop and it looks damn good with a structured blazer.

If you've been thinking about it for a while, I say, just do it.

Hair grows back, so you really don't have anything to lose (and I'm quietly confident you won't regret it anyway!).

5 reasons to wear flares.

... And I'm not talking the 60's kind.

I'm talking fashion flares. Think Céline, think Ellery, think super-wide proportions and luxurious fabrics.

Black pants are kind of like shoes to me – I've managed to successfully convince myself (and my boyfriend) that it's totally necessary to own every slight variation (super straight, relaxed, pinstripe, cropped, wide leg  you get the drift) because I live in them.

That's where flares come in. They're my new favourite shape.

And if you've put them in a no-go zone because you think they'll be unflattering or hard to pull of, I'm here to change your mind. They're actually the complete opposite when you know how to style them right.

Here's five reasons to wear flares:

1. THERE ARE LOTS OF VARIATIONS.

You could go for super skinny jeans with a flare at the bottom (I love these ones by J Brand), or black pants with a wider leg all the way down. There are so many shapes to work with, you just have to try them and find what works for your shape and height.

2. THEY CAN MAKE YOU LOOK TALLER.

Exhibit A. As someone pointed out on my Instagram, these make me look 6 ft tall (when I'm actually 5.7 ft, the truth hurts).

When the legs are super wide like the ones I'm wearing, your heels hide underneath, which gives you a temporary growth spurt. Winning!

3. THEY MAKE A STATEMENT.

There's something sartorially satisfying about slipping into a pair. It instantly elevates your outfit. Trust me, just try it.

4. THEY MAKE A GREAT LAYERING PIECE.

I love wearing them with a dress or an oversized slouchy sweater.

5. THEY TAKE THE PRESSURE OFF THE REST OF YOUR OUTFIT.

When I wear straight black pants or jeans, I feel like the rest of my outfit needs more work so it's not boring.

But because flares are the statement piece, you can literally throw them on with a plain tee and look amazing.

The best style advice I've ever been given.

You'll always look your best if you do this.
Sorry I've been MIA, I've been working on a few exciting things (oh, and I took a quick 10-day vacay).

But I'm back! And I have lots of good stuff to show you.

This week I shared the best style advice I've ever been given on Vogue Australia in collaboration with Gucci. These images give you a sneak peek, but read the full thing here (and let me know if you agree!).

I'm also excited to finally announce that I'm now beauty editor of THE FILE, a new beauty website where I give tips on things like mastering the messy half bun and how to do the power lip. Check it out here.

Next post: my latest obsession – find out what it is and see how to style it. Hope to see you then! x
