THE SECRET TO A PERFECT WARDROBE.

Grey oversize coat white boyfriend jeans Chronicles of Her www.thechroniclesofher.blogspot.com

I'm refining my wardrobe, so my next few posts will be all about how to edit your clothing collection so everything goes together.

Follow these tips and you'll have endless outfit options, forever.

Every six months or so I reach that breaking point where my wardrobe gets so out of hand that I can't bare to look through it, so I end up wearing the same couple of pieces on repeat and basically pretend the rest of the mess isn't there.

But there's only so long I can handle this before I decide to do something about it..

My goal this time around is to edit my wardrobe down to a mix of investment pieces and cheap thrills that are all quality, classic and timeless.

My favourite new addition is this grey oversized coat. Coats are definitely worth investing in because the quality and shape is everything. I think I've said this a hundred times already, but grey is my colour of choice this winter.

I also decided I need 5 pairs of jeans for a complete wardrobe: two super skinny black pairs, a true blue denim pair, white skinnies with a cropped ankle and a white boyfriend pair - preferably ripped. These are 100% cotton, and I scored them on ASOS here

A little while ago I also decided it was time to invest in a simple black clutch, and this Saint Laurent one had me at hello.

Throw it all together with a simple black cami (an essential layering piece) and voilà.

THREE PEARL JEWELLERY PIECES YOU NEED NOW.

Pearl jewellery Chronicles of Her www.thechroniclesofher.blogspot.com

Pearls have been given a modern makeover, and I'm all about it.

But we can't all afford Sophie Bille Brahe, so here's the next best thing...

Introducing my new pearl ring, earrings and choker that I just can't stop wearing.

Wearing Josh Goot corset top and choker from The Dark Horse

Most statement necklaces are overkill with a minimal outfit, but this one is like a match made in minimal heaven.

THE RING:

Wearing Dries Van Noten top and Chloé ring.

I updated my plain gold band with this super chic Chloé ring. The square shape creates the most beautiful contrast against the pearl. I can't stop looking at it. These photos don't even do it justice.

Note: I think the sizes run a little big, so if you intend to wear it on the same finger as me, go small.

THE EARRINGS:

SUMMER SUITS & HOW TO WEAR THEM.

While we're piling on the layers here in Australia, those in the northern hemisphere are saying HELLO to shorter hemlines and the sweet sensation of sun on their skin.

You all know I love a great blazer-and-pants combo, but here's a lighter, brighter take on how to wear it.

To my Australian readers – no, I have not lost my mind. I am well aware it's officially winter here, but I just had to share this summer suiting editorial I shot for Grazia.it a few weeks ago because (thanks to the amazing Australian climate) I'm pretty these looks are still wearable here too.

For this shoot, I decided to wave the Aussie flag and pay homage to some of my homegrown favourites like Dion Lee, Michael lo Sordo and Christopher Esber because they all know a thing or two about relaxed suiting.

Click here to see the full feature on Grazia.it

WHY NOT WEAR... A DRESS OVER YOUR PANTS?

If your answer to that is "why would you", you need to read on.

During my lifetime I've only met a handful of dresses that I love.

Do I like floral? No. Do I like bodycon? Die. Do I like sparkly spandex party dresses? Not since 2006.

But I've recently take a liking to a shift dress worn over pants – whether they be straight and cropped (like my favourite black pants), of the wide legged variety, or second-skin leather, like these new ones I'm currently living in by Rebecca Vallance

It's Céline-approved, and also the easiest way to extend the wearability of your summer wardrobe through winter, and vice versa.

Wearing Peridot London tuxedo dress (similar here, here, incredible long sleeve version here), Rebecca Vallance leather pants, Swarovski necklace, monogrammed Oroton clutch and The Mode Collective heels.
