LET'S TALK ABOUT WAYS TO WEAR WHITE.

You've nailed white on white, but have you considered cream on white?

It's my new favourite combo.

I eased myself into it with this post (a sharp eye would have noticed the white band clashing with the cream sweater), although it definitely took me a few glimpses in the mirror to get used to.

As much as I love my favourite black pants, it's always nice to have a plan B, and I've actually found myself getting way more wear out of these white 3.1 Phillip Lim pants than I thought I would.

I underestimated the versatility of white pants, but they look oh so chic with grey, navy, black, white, pastels (so pretty much everything), and if you opt for some with man-style tailoring like these, a slinky camisole, a sporty crop (this minimal black one is on my list and this fluted Nicholas one is also amazing) or a chunky knitted sweater makes the perfect pairing.

And in keeping with the theme of my last post about how to rule in mules, I decided to give my new favourite shoes some extra air time.

THE LITTLE BLACK WEEKEND DRESS.

Every gal needs one.

If there's one thing that gets me through the weekend, it's the little black dress. Coffee is a close second, but it's the little black dress that gets you to the coffee without having to put in any thought or effort, so it's the obvious winner.

Because of my (very well documented) love of black, I have many in my wardrobe. The most recent new addition is this one by Nasty Gal, who recently launched an Australian-specific site. In a nutshell, that means quicker delivery times for those last-minute impulse buys before the weekend. Amen!

I took mine for a spin last weekend when I was catching up with my girl, Harper & Harley

Simple + comfy + versatile = winning.

HOW TO RULE IN MULES.

There's an art to it. Really.

Everyone needs a pair of mules in their life.

A simple strappy heel (obsessed with these ones I got recently) will always be my go-to shoe, but there's just something about mules that make everything cooler. Just ask Phoebe Philo.

And if you've already taken my advice and got your hands on a pair of these black pants, you're in luck because they're the perfect counterpart for these deliciously chunky (and comfy) mules

My rules for wearing mules are as below:

WEAR THEM WITH PANTS OR A MIDI SKIRT:

I'm not so sure about mules and mini-skirts, but mules and midi skirts? Yes please.

It also goes without saying that I'm incredibly fond of a great pant, and mules add the perfect touch of femininity to these super chic ones from The Outnet (which also just happen to be on sale right now, here).

LESS IS MORE:

I'm not here to tell you how to live your life, but if you want my advice, I'd tell you that mules are at their chicest when you keep the rest of your outfit clean and simple.

This minimal cream and black sweater quickly became well acquainted with my new mules, and now we're all one big happy family.

CROP IT:

Mules look best when you can see a little bit of your ankle so go for slightly cropped pants like these or these

IF YOUR MULE SLIPS OFF:

... And you fall over, do this face. It will only make you more endearing. For the record, my mules haven't come off once, not even when running up four flights of stairs.

THE BLACK PANTS THAT CHANGED MY LIFE.

It's a big call, but it's true.

Introducing the best black pants you'll ever meet, and four ways to wear them.

Saying that a pair of pants has changed my life is not something I go around telling people often. I mean, it sounds kind of weird. But in the case of these particular ASOS pants, I actually felt compelled to share this news with the world because they're so damn good.

Why?

They're just the right amount of 'relaxed', they're cropped to just the right length to elongate the legs and make every pair of shoes look amazing, they're a super flattering fit, they work for almost every daily occasion and, to put it simply, they make getting dressed a little easier which equals quicker, which equals being out the door earlier, which (sometimes) equals me actually being on time, which equals LIFE CHANGING.

I've been wearing them for months and decided it's time to share the secret. Here's the best black pants you'll ever meet, and four ways to wear them:

RUNNING ERRANDS:

Wearing ASOS pants with Cerruti coat (similar here and here), Glassons jumper (similar here) over Bassike shirt, Nike sneakers, Madewell leather tote and Swarovski ring and bangle

Wear them with: an oversized winter coat + sneakers + a leather tote.

THE COFFEE DATE:

Wearing ASOS pants with Oskar shirt layered under Oskar knit, A.P.C. tote, Witchery loafers and Swarovski ring and bangle

Wear them with: a chunky knit over a button-up shirt + a slouchy tote + loafers. One three quarter soy latte please.

THE MEETING:

Wearing ASOS pants with Hansen & Gretel jacket, Josh Goot shirt, Saint Laurent heels and Swarovski ring.

Wear them with: a crisp white shirt + black longline blazer + killer heels. Boss lady.

THE COCKTAIL CATCH-UP:

Wearing ASOS pants with J Brand top, Saint Laurent heels and Swarovski necklace

Wear them with: a slinky black top + simple pearl necklace. Pearls are errrrrythang.

UPDATED: Thank you for all of your comments and questions below and on Instagram. I am wearing a size 8 in the regular length, and I think they're very true to size. I'm about 174cm tall and these are the perfect cropped length on me. Good luck! x

YOUR BEST PHOTO-READY FACE IN SEVEN STEPS.

Professional make-up artists and photo filters not required, but the right tools are essential.

From my experience, the best photos come when the subject’s natural glow shines through (with the help of a few key products, of course).

A flawless skin tone and radiant complexion are key because, without that, you can’t do any of your other features justice. Cue Estée Lauder Double Wear All Day Glow BB Moisture Makeup and Double Wear Brush On Glow BB – two heaven-sent little products that I rely on to get me out the door quickly every day.

As a result of weekly blog shoots, events and meetings, I’ve mastered a few tricks of the trade for looking your best behind the lens. Here’s my fail-safe seven-step guide:

1. LAY THE FOUNDATIONS.

Less is more – particularly during the daytime, and particularly when your morning routine allows for less than 10 minutes in front of the mirror.

Beginning the process with a multitasking product like Estée Lauder Double Wear All Day Glow BB Moisture Makeup is key, because it perfects, brightens, moisturises, nourishes (with vitamin C and vitamin E for an antioxidant boost) and protects (with SPF30) the skin all-in-one.

To create the perfect base, distribute the product across your forehead, cheeks, chin and nose, and then blend outwards towards your jawline (I use my fingers and a pressing motion to knead the product into my skin so no unevenness is detectable).

You’ll notice your skin is instantly vibrant, and perfectly prepped for the next step.

2. CONCEAL AND HIGHLIGHT.

The Double Wear Brush On Glow BB is, without a doubt, my new best friend. I take it everywhere with me in my handbag, for a quick touch-up or an instant lift throughout the day.

To hide imperfections, apply a small dot on blemishes and gently blend outwards. The illuminating properties in the pen diffuse the light and hide any unwanted discolouration or imperfections.

Then (my favourite part), use this little magic wand to enhance your facial features. Apply it to your cheekbones, brow bones, dark circles under the eyes, centre of your forehead, either side of your nose, the cupid’s bow and the middle of the bottom lip (basically anywhere the light naturally hits your face). Use your finger to blend the product in, and watch your eyes get brighter, your lips appear bigger and your cheekbones seem higher.

I use: Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder in 'Medium'.

3. CONTOUR AND CURL.

Give your face more depth in the photo by use a bronzing powder to sculpt in below the cheekbones and around the edge of the face. If you want a super-bronzed finish, dust it down your nose also, otherwise leave it bare for a more open, brighter result.

Open-up tired eyes by curling lashes multiple times, from the very bottom to the tips.

4. BRIGHT EYES.

Subtly shading the contour of the eyes with a warm eye shadow or cream shadow will make your eyes pop through a photo, without distorting their shape and detracting from their natural beauty (like eyeliner can sometimes do).

Sweep the colour along the upper eyelid to just above the crease, and along the lower lashline (don’t forget this step), then blend.

Light-up your eyes and create the illusion of a brighter face by applying the Double Wear Brush On Glow BB to the inner corners of the eyes.

5. THE FINER DETAILS.

Create your most flattering brow shape by brushing the hairs upwards, then filling them in with a pencil so that the inner corners line up with the outer edge of your nostrils, and the arches begin slightly beyond the outer edge of your pupils.

Add the finishing touch to your eyes with a coating of mascara. For the most natural result on the bottom lashes, rest the wand on the lashes then blink gently.

I use: Bobbi Brown Blush in 'Nectar' or Clinique Blushing Blush Powder in 'Aglow'.

6. ADD COLOUR.

Cameras tend to wash the colour out of your face, so I always include a dusting of pink blush on the apples of the cheeks (which also adds warmth to the face) and a slick of lipstick a shade or two darker than your natural lip colour.

To make lips appear bigger, apply a generous amount of the colour to the center of the lips, and then use your finger to press the colour outwards, allowing it to gently blend beyond the lip line.

Enhance the shape of the cupid’s bow with a spot of Double Wear Brush On Glow BB just above the top lip.

7. TAME THE MANE.

For voluminous, low-maintenance hair that always looks great, tie your hair in a top knot in the morning, then let it out and scrunch some sea salt spray through the ends to create texture.

The rest is up to confidence and a lots of practice!

Experiment with different angles to find your most flattering face shape. Tilting your head down slightly will bring out the eyes, while tilting the head back creates a more angular jaw line.

A flawless complexion, combined with an inner and outer glow will best-capture your most flattering portrait.

Wearing Camilla and Marc top and ASOS skirt throughout.
